These lovely vintage pieces retain that traditional character, with coloured stripes stitched directly into the fabric rather than painted onto the surface.

What a wonderful talking point. The centrepiece of your table with a real rustic history. Each family farm would have had their own stripe pattern so they knew whose sacks were whose when collecting from the mills. 

Each stripe is stitched in, not painted on. The runner is one continuous length of fabric. The edges have not been hemmed but some retain their original hand stitched edges. Due to its vintage nature, there may be faded areas, age spots, thread plucking and the odd remaining piece of straw in the fabric which add to its charm and rustic authenticity.
